The island's energy

The island's energy
A guided introduction to Vejrø's microgrid and energy systems, giving you an insight into how the island functions as a self-sufficient energy cycle.
Description
The Island's Energy is a guided behind-the-scenes experience that provides insight into how Vejrø functions as a self-sufficient island powered by an integrated microgrid.
Participants are introduced to the island's energy infrastructure and systems thinking—how renewable energy production, storage, distribution, and consumption are designed to work together in balance. The experience provides a clear understanding of how energy decisions are made in a small, confined system and what lessons can be learned from operating an island as a closed and robust circuit.
The tour connects technology with context. You will gain insight into how energy supports everyday life on the island—from agriculture and food production to hospitality and operations—and how resource awareness shapes both design and behavior.
Island Energy is not a technical deep dive, but a practical and accessible introduction to microgrid thinking, system integration, and real-world application—demonstrated in a live, working environment.
