JORD

At Restaurant Jord, the day unfolds in three gastronomic chapters.
When the sun rises over Smålandsfarvandet, JORD is bathed in peaceful morning light. Here, the day begins with tranquility, warmth, and the special feeling of having the island almost to yourself. You experience breakfast as a quiet ritual: freshly baked bread, the kitchen's own small creations, and the taste of freshly harvested greens. A harmonious beginning, where nature sets the pace and you, as a guest, are allowed to start the day and nourish both body and mind.
When the island begins to buzz in the middle of the day and the fields are in full bloom, JORD changes its atmosphere. Lunch is served in an atmosphere that invites life, presence, and good conversation. It is a meal that connects you with the daily rhythm of the island.
The evening is JORD's culinary highlight. As the sun sets over the sea, expect an atmosphere where time disappears and each course is a small chapter in the story of Vejrø.

Sustainability and animal welfare
At Restaurant JORD, we work in a single cycle where nature, the kitchen, and craftsmanship are inextricably linked. It all begins on the island: in the greenhouses, fields, and gardens where our gardeners grow the vegetables that will later become our dishes. This results in an exceptionally short journey from farm to table and a rare opportunity to follow the ingredients closely—from their first sprout to their final flavor on the plate.
When we serve meat, it comes from animals that have lived their lives on Vejrø. They have grazed freely in the island's countryside, grown up in natural surroundings, and are treated with the utmost respect. The same responsibility applies to the sea around us. Fish and shellfish are selected from sustainable catches in the Småland waters, where quality and balance are more important than quantity. We are uncompromising – if we cannot obtain decent fish on a given day, we do not serve it.
A large part of JORD's gastronomy stems from our work to extend and refine the seasons. We forage wild herbs, ferment, preserve, and can the abundance of summer so that nature's energy can be experienced all year round. This not only reduces waste—it also creates a depth of flavor that can only come from working patiently and closely with the origin of the ingredients.
Sustainability is therefore not an ambition for us. It is a practice, a craft, and a promise: that every meal should be connected to the place, the animals, and the nature that make it possible.

Opening hours & table reservations
During the high season, from May to September, Jord is open from morning until evening.
- Breakfast is served daily from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- Lunch can be enjoyed between 12:00 and 14:00.
- Dinner is served from 6 p.m., with last orders at 9:30 p.m.
- Drink service is available until midnight.
When the weather permits, the evening often begins under the open sky on the terrace, overlooking the fields and with a glass in hand.
We recommend booking a table well in advance, as the restaurant often fills up quickly during the summer season. If you have booked a stay at Vejrø, a table will already have been reserved for you.
