Erected in July 1849, Skrivers House was originally the home of the lighthouse assistant - a key figure in Vejrø's maritime past. Located close to the island's iconic lighthouse, the house has been a silent witness to life on the coast for generations. Around 1905, the first grocery store arrived on Vejrø - a milestone for the island's residents. Finally, daily necessities could be obtained without having to sail to the mainland. In 1884, the doors to Skolehuset on Vejrø were opened for the first time. The building was purchased by Fejø Municipality for 100 kr. - and formed the framework for the island's school life for many years. Here, children learned to read, write and count amidst the quiet pulse of nature. When the school closed in 1966, the pupils disappeared, but the house remained standing - with its soul and memories intact. Today, Skolehuset has been lovingly restored and furnished for a stay with presence and history in the walls.
